Jenny and the Family...2010

Every summer I get the privilage of taking pictures of Jenny and her two fabulous children Brandyn and David. And every summer it is one of my favorite photoshoots. We always have a blast running around town and stopping to take pictures on a whim.

Brandyn always dominates the camera; this year David showed he has his own style that sent a clear message: "Watch out Brandyn, you may own street portraits but I own the trees".

Boon Goes the Dynamite

I haven't been blogging lately but I want to get back into it. So...meet Boon, a young horse that needed breaking. A few of us guys got together and taught him a thing or two. Yes...I was nearly bucked off...yes Rian did get thrown off...yes, it was a fantastic time.

The Anderson Family

It was time to get Grandma some pictures so the Fam gathered together one bright and shiny Saturday afternoon. Once again, Brandyn tried to steal the show. But this time we found her weekness...THE SUN. Poor Brandyn doesn't like bright lights. Still, she powered through (as did the rest of us) and we got some fun pictures of everyone.

After Jesse and Andrea got back from Europe we decided to have an old fashioned Portland style Pumpkin Patch photo shoot. My beautiful wife, Tanell, did a fantastic on Andrea's makeup and then joined us as my assistant. Everyone had a great time...except Jesse of course...but even with his lack of smiling, it was still fun.

And I absolutely love these pictures.

Tosha and the Fam

Jesse & Andrea Morton

My brother Jesse and his (now) wife Andrea decided to get married in Italy. We spent a few days together in Rome having the best possible time before we left to go our separate ways. A few days later we met back up in Florence for a beautiful wedding and a reception with the best possible view. Thank you both for inviting me along.

Jakoby Morton

My first ever newborn shoot...and yes I was pee'd on. We worked hard setting up a "studio" in Erik & Sharon's living room and then spent the rest of the night trying to figure out how to make it work. In the end I was happy with how things turned out, but it wasn't easy.

I've been spending a lot of time down at the East Bank Esplanade lately...and having a great time doing it. Ashley & Gates met up with me for a quick photo session. It was a summer day but the weather felt like fall. Gates was great, smiling the whole time and truely having fun.

The Jordan Family

The Jordan Family and I braved the rain and the crowds at Happy Valley park last week and were rewarded with some great pictures. All 4 kids were wonderful and they even acted as my 2nd shooters for a few shots.

Jason and Alicia Jordan are two of my favorite people. I am so impressed with how they have opened their home to so many young children. Its a lot of hard work but I'm know they will have a huge impact on each childs life.

The roses were in bloom and everyone was smiling...everyone except Jordan of course. We took some great (in my not so humble opinion) pictures and everyone had a great time..everyone except Jordan of course. Fishing with fotoLux

One reason I love photography is being able to capture memories of my children growing up. For instance, last week I took them fishing and was able to capture the disappointment when they found out their dad is a lousy fisherman...as evidenced by this small fish...which was already dead and floating in the water when we got there.

While we didn't catch any fish we did get this great picture.

If you have plans to take your kids fishing why not bring fotoLux along? Not only will you get great pictures of a fun memory, you'll also impress them when they realize that their dad (or mom) is way better at fishing than I am.

Single Parent Families

Recently I was reading the "fotoLux Guidebook to Life" and remembered an important policy that we have which states (in chapter 7 and paragraph 3): ...all single parent families who can not afford photography fees shall be given one free photo session with photo editing, an online slideshow, and deeply discounted prices on printing*...

It then occurred to me that I've only told one person this and she tried to pay me anyway...so...here i blog, trying to spread the word. Please tell all your single parent friends that Johnpaul WANTS to take their family's pictures.

I feel like my life has been very fortunate, as I have been blessed in so many ways, and with all that I have been given I feel it is important to give back in anyway I can.

Little William

William turned 6 this year and his parents thought it would be a great idea to celebrate with pictures...and Will did a great job. He clearly was not interested in the pictures and he was constantly suggesting that we go home...but in between complaints he would stop and smile...and then say "now can we go home".

Here are some pictures I took of the Anderson family this last weekend. Thank you Jenny, Brandyn, and David for waiting out the rain with me. We managed to find the 1 hour of sun on Saturday and filled it up with a great time (as Bret and Jemaine say, we were "Rockin this Metropolis"). Last year Brandyn really stole the show...this year however...well...Brandyn still stole the show, but David really held his ground (you too Jenny...).

I'm already excited about next years shoot.

Bryan, Jen, and The Ducks

Bryan and Jen recently got engaged and so we went down to Washington Park and took some pictures. That was fun. And then last Saturday we got together and went down to watch The Oregon Ducks beat Utah State. That was really fun.

Bryan and Jen will be getting married August 1st, 2009 at the McMenamins Grand Lodge. I'm looking forward to it, should be a great time.

Beth & John...a Wedding

Beth and John had a beautiful wedding at the Leach Botanical Gardens. I had a great time taking pictures with my wonderful assistant, Tanell. The flower girls were adorable, the ceremony was sweet, and the cupcakes were...well...I don't know...I didn't have a cupcake...but they looked great.

The Twins 1st Birthday Party

We just so happened to be in the area where Tanell and I were engaged so we stopped by "Engagement Rock" and took a few pictures.
